LEAV celebrates 40th anniversary!

The Lambeth Elderly Association from Vietnam held our 40th anniversary celebration on Saturday 19th September 2026. The festivities, attend by 138 people, marked the end of our organisation's fourth decade of dedicated service to older former refugees from Vietnam living in and around Lambeth.

Our small, grassroots organisation has survived multiple crises and challenges over the years including recessions, austerity regimes, Covid-19 and regenerations schemes, remaining an anchor of support for our community amid a fast-changing inner London landscape.

My Diep, the centre's project manager, said:  "People got to meet other people who they hadn't met for a long time and we all felt very happy. It's such a big achievement to keep serving this community for this long." .

She added: "Without support from all our volunteers and funders we would never have been able to survive this long."

LEAV is now facing one of the harshest funding climates it's encountered since it was founded in 1986.

Hats off to the LEAV ladies - going strong 40 years on!
